A member asked:

I forgot to ask my orthodontist this, but basically for my bottom retainer, he put it on my teeth, then took it off and cut off the last molar at the back on the retainer. is there a reason for this? i completely forgot to ask why and im curious?

Your orthodontist apparently felt that that acrylic was not needed, but this is only a guess. Please direct all your questions to your treating orthodontist.

Your Orthodontist may have felt the retainer was not fitting well, or ne/she wanted the back molars to erupt slightly. There are other reasons. Ask your Orthodontist about your specific treatment for the best answer.
