Pill Esophagitis can occur when a pill, taken without enough liquid, scratches or irritates the esophageal lining. It typically lasts just a few hours to one day. It has no lasting effects. Plan B is a medication that contains high doses of hormones, so watch for irregular period (bleeding early, longer or heavier), nausea, breast tenderness, abdominal bloating and occasionally headaches.
