The term cardiomegaly means big heart. It does not mean it is not working well enough to avoid heart failure. (failure to provide for enough blood flow at a rate compatible with normal activities of daily living)Yet you can have both at the same time.

I was diagnosed by CT scan with mild cardiomegaly. However, every chest x ray shows neggative cardiomegaly. When I look at the photo my heart is visibly enlarged? How are they missing the enlargment? I've had at least 6 x rays all neggative?
