A member asked:

Is it possible for a nerve (possibly the pudendal nerve) to become entrapped or damaged during a double hernia repair operation on a 5 year old female, causing provoked vulvodynia or nerve pain affecting the vulvar and vaginal opening later on?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Pudendal nerve is deep in the pelvis and is not near the Inguinal area where usually groin hernias are of which I am assuming you .ask. The nerves in the area are ilio ing. and iliohypo. and are very rarely entrapped when the procedure is done by a competent surgeon. You can also ask the surgeon of the risks. Good luck to your child
