When is it necessary to go to er or urgent care for skin splits on fingers and thumbs? is it really necessary to go or is there stuff you can do at home to take care of them? i know bandaids won't work the splits are too many on just the thumb?

You either know how to assess and treat the issue or you don't. If you don't, find someone that does. You don't encapsulate decades of experience in a few words.
