A member asked:

Why is the normal range for blood tests so different country to country and state to state? i read it is based on lab but it seems more based on country or state. even if by lab, why wouldnt they all calibrate equipment the same?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

The calibration is based on sometimes the units of measurement and that varies internationally. The populations also vary in many ways and each area gets a consensus of what most people have in the area to determine their normal range. There is overlap in the variablity however when you use the same units of measurement.
