A member asked:

I was diagnosed with basal cell carcinoma superficial type, do i have a higher chance of getting other cancers that have nothing to do with the skin and is this a type of cancer that can kill?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Basal Cell skin cancer is one of the simpler localized cancers that is easily cured by complete removal. It is not known to seed through the blood to other sites. It is not one of the "family" that finds an individual susceptible to several other cancers. If not removed it slowly destroys the adjacent tissues and structures and can set a person up for other more serious medical complications.
