A member asked:

I have la grade b esophagitis. is it possible that barretts esophagus is hidden? also, what should i eat? should i stick to no fatty food, chocolate, typical gerd diet? will i have this forever? could forceful vomit session have given me this?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Repeated vomiting is one of the causes of esophagitis. The commonest cause is GERD. Stopping vomiting & managing GERD will help heal your esophagitis. Abstaining from alcohol, aspirins, meds like advil& aleve, avoiding excess caffeine are all important. Your gastroscopy didn't reveal Barretts. Your esophagitis won't be permanent. Follow your gastroenterologist's instructions.
