Inquire : Ask your pediatrician or family doctor to recommend a pediatric gastroenterologist in your area. Also ask for a referral from them. Call the doctor's office that you are referred to and then inquire ahead of time some questions that concern you about your son. There is no harm asking for a second opinion. Your son's doctor should understand this.

Abdominal pain: High cholesterol and the development of gallstones are related. Gallstones can cause abdominal pain. Ibs is a diagnosis of exclusion and can only be made when other causes have been ruled out. Pediatric gi's are trained in the treatment of much more than ibs. If your son's pain is due to gallstones, he may need to see a pediatric surgeon for consideration of gallbladder removal.
