YES/NO: Short acting benzos i.e. Xanax, (alprazolam) Ativan & the ultrashort acting Halcion can lead to tolerance pretty fast. It depends on the dosage, "small dosage " is a relative term . In treatment of anxiety, we try to avoid using short acting benzos where possible. Most likely few months of use under medical supervision will not lead to significant tolerance. It has to be weaned off gradually though good lu.
