It depends: The dosages of benzodiazepines depend somewhat on the size of the person and whether or not they have a tolerance to the drug. Also, there are some genetic differences between individuals that can affect how well you tolerate a benzo. Unfortunately, we do not routinely do genetic testing for this.

In a nutshell: Any dose of benzodiazepines beyond that prescribed, would be too big. Your doctor knows about your liver functioning, other medications or substances you're using, other illnesses you might have, etc -- and can recommend the best dose for your needs.
