My doctor and i decided i would take aleve 2x's a day from day 24-day 3 of my menstrual cycle to try to prevent the migraine attacks i get during that time. would that be considered short term use of aleve? concerned its too much?

This sounds like a reasonable approach. It won't necessarily be effective, but probably worth a try. It's not too much drug, and of course your doctor would not have advised it if it were.

I think it's prolonged usage and may not even be preventative. I'd rather see you get an opinion about other options concerning prevention of migraine by consulting a neurologist who has a special interest in migraine even if you have to consult one at the department of neurology at a university hospital near you.

Similar to my colleagues, I am skeptical that your Aleve program will provide any prevention of menstrual migraine. There are several prescription and OTC measures that could be far more effective. Find an experienced neurologist and achieve true success.
