What can cause lymph nodes-under jaw to one side to swell significantly within mins & subside in an hour? it seemed to align with eating (just woke up) so possibly i didn't notice & swallowing alerted me to it? had minor pain near jaw area day prior?

They may be not the submandibular lymph nodes but the swollen object could be the submandibular salivary gland. If it recurs, you should see an ENT doctor. Good luck.
