A member asked:

Will i void my pain contract to pain management by going to urgent care for xanax??

Depends on what is written on the contract. If you are going to a separate doctor for these meds it likely violates any general pain care contract. Be aware in many states all your similar medicines are now tracked online and the doctor could be required to check your medication list & frequency of refills/contacts before writing a script. Even if they are at urgent care.

If you have a standard pain contract approved by your state medical board, you're seeking a controlled substance from a new physician would almost certainly violate your contract and likely result in your physician discontinuing your care. As mentioned, a new physician can check your prior history of pain medication prescriptions.
