My 4 month old all of a sudden has red rosy cheeks. no fever, no illness, no fussiness. it comes and goes, the last time, i put petroleum gel on it, and it disappear. but itll come back, especially when he sleeps. something to worry about?

I would not worry. I would generally do nothing as the color hurts nothing and may be transient anyway. If you must do something the gel is innocuous.
