Ouch!!!: Severe pain from any condition is a safe reason to pay a visit to the ed. Er docs are used to seeing patients with dental pain present to their ed. A bacterial infection may be contributing to the pain & antibiotics may be needed. Nsaids help in these cases, but sometime stronger paid meds are needed. A dentist is always preferred for these cases if one is accessible. Otc topical remedies may help.

Temporarily: The er can only prescribe pain and antibiotic medication. Thi can provide temporary relief. The bes long term solution will be to see a dentist and maybe have the wisdom tooth removed. Hope things work out quickly

ERs and wisdom teeth: Unfortunatey, for this problem the er is not the place to go. There is nothing short of extraction (which for "routine" wisdom teeth the er or a hospital is not set up to do) which will resolve the situation. Medicaid does cover some of this, if you can find a provider to accept it, but there are also free or low cost clinics which might help.
