It is normal to have menses up into mid 50's(unusual after 55). As for Cancer in the family, you should seek medical advice on Cancer screening particularly for Breast Cancer(mammography once every year after the age of 50). As for stopping medicines check/verify with your PCP/Family doctor about the reasons for taking your medication before you stop as some medicines are essential for good health
