It's common in the winter time especially if the air in your house is dry because of heating. If bleeding comes out anteriorly and it stops within minutes by pushing the ala to the septum on the bleeding side, the bleeding is from the fragile kiesselbach plexus then you have nothing to worry. If nosebleed recurs quite often in the next couple days or it takes a long time to stop, see your doctor.

You most likely have a superficial bleeder (blood vessel) on the side that is bleeding in an area called Little’s area where most nose bleeds occur. You will have to see someone who can cauterize it with silver nitrate. In the meantime you can but a cotton ball soaked with afrin into the affected side and it will stop. Good luck and feel better.
