Can someone suddenly develop apical thickening in lung over one month interval without any noticeable respiratory illness? is it d/t radiologist inter-reader variability? if not, what can cause such change? cxr ordered for upper back/shoulder pain?

Sub clinical infection may occur. A smoker often will have x ray changes, sometimes in advance of symptoms. A CT scan may be performed, particularly if there is pain. Watch for signs of shortness of breath and cough. Please follow up with your Pulmonologist.
