A member asked:

Nasal turbinates are constantly swollen due to vasomotor rhinitis - does attempting to blow nose continually to clear it actually worsen my condition? should i refrain from blowing my nose unless absolutely needed? would that help prevent swelling?

It's true that you must not be overly vigorous in blowing your nose or manipulating it unnecessarily. What treatments have you had thus far? Has the diagnosis been documented by an ENT specialist? I find that astelin is the most effective antihistamine nasal spray & is used in conjunction with decongestant & corticosteroid nasal sprays, all according to instructions or by a regimen ordered by ENT

Blowing your nose can lead to more swelling/inflammation so only blowing your nose when needed is likely helpful. You need to be under the care of an ENT doctor to find out the best treatment so that this can resolve. So, see an ENT specialist as soon as possible. Good luck to you!
