Irritant: The causes of nasal congestion due to enlarged turbinates include: allergic rhinitis, sinusitis, non-allergic-irritant rhinitis from smoke, perfumes, cleaning chemicals, etc. Also hormonal changes can lead to rhinitis with nasal congestion in women.
