Can herniated disc affect brain?

Not directly. The symptoms are more local and downstream from the central nervous system. If the bulge impinges on any local nerve roots there can be pain or sensation changes. The bulge does not interfere with the metabolism or activity of the brain.

A ruptured disc occurs within the vertebral column and may affect the nerve roots or the spinal cord. The symptoms are secondary to this local mechanism and do not involve pathological brain issues.
