There is a condition called Patella Alta, when the Patella (knee cap) is at a higher position than is typical. It can result from a tendon injury, or patella dislocation, but more commonly is present from birth related to a congenital/developmental condition unrelated to trauma. It may cause symptoms such as pain, dislocation, or instability. And treatment may be needed depending on symptoms.
