A member asked:

I had x-rays for chronic lower back pain. report says moderate right facet hypertrophy is present at l5-s1. mild narrowing of the l5-s1 disc is noted. i also had x-rays of my knee which said lateral patellar subluxation. how can they help me?

Orthopedic surgeon: Your patella(kneecap) slides out of place but doesn't dislocate. Nevertheless this indicates some degree of instability which I feel should be evaluated by an orthopedic surgeon who will advise you about treatment options. You have some osteoarthritis of your spine and some mild degenerative disc disease which may cause some back issues. These spinal findings are rather common.
