Strep throat is a bacterial infection that does respond rapidly to appropriate antibiotic intervention. Head colds are caused by viruses, and amoxicillin is NOT an antiviral drug but does not increase the risk for an upper respiratory tract infection, either. You remain susceptible to seasonal viral exanthems.
