It happends: The co-infection of the tonsils or throat with strep and mono is known to occur.If you were rx'd without a quick strep test or culture the strep DX might have been in error to begin with.A significant % of people with mono given Amoxicillin develop a rash but not all, the only way to know if you have mono at this point would be further testing.

Treatment failure: If strep was confirmed with a swab, i would consider this a treatment failure and try a different antibiotic.
