Can i take 1 gram of valacyclovir in a single dose for a genital herpes breakout?

Valacyclovir is appropriate for treatment of genital herpes, and will shorten the duration of active herpes lesions. Antiviral medications can also be used when the initial symptoms occur, prior to an ulcerative lesion. Valacyclovir is usually not given as a single dose, but over several days.
