Various causes : There are a variety of causes and an exam is needed to confirm. If it comes and goes herpes infections are one possibility. Yeast infections are another. After menopause estrogen deficiency could be the cause. Contact irritants and allergic reactions can do this. Certain skin disorders like lichen sclerosis and lichen simplex chronicus are possibilities.
