Calf pain for a year. mris:mild feathery edema within several muscles. recently i tried kt tape and surprisingly it really reduced the pain but as soon as i remove it, the pain comes back. why is that? does it speed up the healing? or is it temporary?

Unfortunately, KT tape only has an effect while it is on, after it is applied correctly. It does not facilitate healing but it does result in pain relief while it is in place. You need to take it off and allow your skin to be open to air periodically. You can typically leave the tape on until it begins peeling off. Then, remove it and leave the skin open to air for at least a few hours. Good luck!

KT tape or Kinesiology Therapeutic Tape provides stability and also movement without restriction. However it also gently lifts up the skin from the tissues below the skin which promote blood and lymphatic flow which should ultimatley help to reduce swelling and allow healing. I would advise you to use it more persistently and for a longer time to see if it can more permanently improve your calf.
