A member asked:

Taking barium sulfate for ct scan. i take eliquis, plavix and beta blocker. does it interfere with the absorption of those ?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Barium can be liquid or paste and can block absorption of medications. If you take your important medications with a little water in the morning 2 hours before the test , they will be absorbed before you take any barium during the test. Nevertheless, it's good policy to check with the radiology department the day before the test and follow their instructions.
