A member asked:

My vitamin b12 levels are high. 1136 to be exact. the doctor isnt concerned and said dont worry about it, but i dont take supplements. do i need to get a second opinion? i just read high levels of b12 can signal cancer?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

All laboratory/imaging results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Talk to the doctor who ordered the tests. Having said that, high vitamin B12 levels may be seen in chronic inflammation but are not a marker of cancer. Wish you good health!
