Motivation is the main driver for recovery and patients that are able to make lifestyle changes, team up with friends and relatives that are trying to help them do in general better than the ones simply relying on pills to treat their cravings.

I first talk about their disorder to them directly to ascertain will they seek help. Those who want help are referred to a local AA club for alcohol abuse and the substance abuse users to a therapy center and in most cases on to a long term center if they can afford one. Any type of therapy is better than none.
