This is often used as a symptomatic medication. Meaning you use it when you feel it will help. Other examples include fever medications and pain relievers. Only you can decide when things are going well or not and if you need it. You may benefit by learning some stress management skills or relaxation techniques from a coach. You might be able to stay med free.

Being as needed, it has to follow the pattern of your treated symptoms, infrequently better than daily or regularly. Lorazepam is a habit forming drug that will need to be tapered only in case taking it daily for extended periods of time. Counseling and lifestyle changes are best in the long run.

Benzodiazepines like Lorazepam have potential to be addicting, and can cause problems with withdrawal symptoms when one is attempting to taper off of them. Sometimes doctors will try just a short course of benzos until the SSRIs or SNRIs can be built up in to your system to help with the anxiety. Prn, or using them just when needed, will help reduce the addictive potential of the benzos
