Can anyone explain that if a homocystine level of 60 causes damage to arteries then why a level of homocystine 20 doest not causes any damage to arteries?

Think of this as you would the effect of the outside temperature on your body. 20 Centigrade would be tolerated, 60C would not. It is all about the environment each tissue is designed to tolerate.

It is felt that only excess homocysteine can damage arterial linings. There is some evidence it can play a role in development of calcium in arteries& heart valves as well. It's unclear to me if other risk factors for this pathology is required though. Clinicians, including me,don't seem to order homocysteine levels the way we used to except in stroke&coronary disease in cases without risk factors
