This high level of homocysteine has been associated with increased risk of cardiovascular events. Treatment with methylated folic acid (sometimes requiring doses of 5-15mg/day) might reduce homocysteine to normal levels, but there is no study showing a reduced risk if homocysteine is reduced to normal. If one considers treatment with methylated folic acid, they should first consult their Dr.
