A sleep study just documents what you are doing already. The only change from what you do at night is they use equipment that records various things that are already happening, With the data they can see if you have sleep apnea, and if so how much it affects you. It is safer for those with real problems than sleeping at home in your bed.

An overnight sleep study is usually performed in a sleep lab with a lot of wires hooked up to you to take measurements. It is a very easy test. All you do is go to sleep. It is also very safe, No different than a normal night sleep. If you snore or have daytime sleepiness, it is a really good idea. Sleep apnea can be deadly. Good luck.

An overnight sleep study is certainly safe but may be annoying as numerous monitoring devices are attached and sleep might be difficult with these distractions. However, it is certainly worthwhile to confirm sleep apnea and, as a result, insurance coverage for a needed C-PAP unit can be easily achieved.
