Ear pain: Yes, you can experience discomfort in your ears during tonsillitis. The reason behind this can be explained by the mass effect of your enlarged tonsils causing a eustachian tube dysfunction. Essentially this tube, when blocked, will cause fluid and air to build up behind the ear drum. The increasing pressure as a result, will cause pain. Take some Ibuprofen or tylenol (acetaminophen) to help!

Ear Pain: Yes, it is known as "referred otalgia". Sometimnes the brain confuses you on the location of the pain. Due to neurolgic input frequently you will experience ear pain from seemingly unrelated areas in the head and neck. Tonsillitis is a common one. The ear pain will go away with the throat pain.
