"Implantation bleeding" can occur after fertilization of a viable egg, which would be earlier than an expected menstruation. Only if ovulation were delayed, and the expected period would be similarly delayed would implantation bleeding "seem" like it coincided with the expected menstruation. Ask your GYN physician for guidance.
