Good question!: To my knowledge amphetamines do not kill brain cells. However, studies show that the recepters in adhd meds have been known to also mimic Cocaine receptors, as read in one of the psychiatric journals. Generally, docs start with the low level of adderall, ritalin, (methylphenidate) and other related adhd meds. The meds do help with focus but as kids get older they may shy away taking meds in school due to others.
