An occasional clay colored stool is not a cause for concern but continual ones are as they indicate pathology with liver,biliary system or pancreas. In your case something caused a transient malabsorption of fats and few loose BMs may have also contributed. The fact that your BMs returned to normal is reassuring.

No, as long as it was a temporary change in the stool, it is most likely not anything to be concerned about. You might want to cut back on drinks a little, eat more fiber in your diet, and hydrate well. If the problem returns, see your primary care doctor or a gastroenterologist. Good luck.
