Any hematoma of significant size would show up on a CT scan. An MRI scan would be more detailed.

By definition, if you had a head injury with a secondary hematoma, "chronic" would not be proper terminology until 3 full months. A CAT scan may miss some subdural bleeding if there is only a scanty amount. MRI would have better resolution.
