I have had a cold for a week. one symptom remains; running nose, mucus is completely clear in color. a friend said my running nose is prolonged by the strong fragrance of the perfume i regularly wear. is this possible? can fragrances cause this?

A runny nose with clear discharge can be due to many things but a strong fragrance is a possibility. Try not wearing the strong perfume for a few days and see if your runny nose improves-it may take a week or so to completely stop. But, if it improves without the strong fragrance, then you have the answer. If it doesn’t, you may have an allergy to something else and should see your doctor.

I agree with Dr Ferrante. Also, it may not be an allergy, but just remaining inflammation/irritation from the viral cold you had. If it continues past another week or 2 and the stopping the perfume doesn't help, please contact your doctor for further advice.
