Probably not...: Many people have an exaggerated gag reflex, particularly on the deeper lateral borders of the tongue and on the poterior palate. Try using a smaller head toothbrush, don't open any wider than necessary, try switching toothpastes, and if all else fails contact your oral healthcare provider.

Not really: You're probably using too much toothpaste. It thickens your saliva and gets too far down your throat making you gag. Try using smaller amounts. You can also brush leaning over the sink and it won't get down your throat.
