The doctor did spirometry for my 10 year old 2 days ago.she had eaten her dinner 20 minutes before the test and she had a cold.when she wanted to breathe out she was starting to cough.by the way ,she has rhinit allergic .can we depend on the result?

The findings of the test are a snapshot in time that reflect the condition of the lungs when it is done. They are independent of eating times. The doctor can decide whether the cold or allergies matter in the context of why he decided to do the test.

A review of the study is available by a virtual consult with Healthtap. You may upload the report to your EHR. Technical issues, including poor effort, cough and illness may alter results. A baseline study after her cold symptoms resolve is recommended. Watch for signs of shortness of breath and cough.
