That is how they are passed, not through random contact with a speculum or sex toy. Skin to skin contact by an infected person's genitals to a vulnerable recipient is required.

Yes using a speculum without sterilizing it can do that. It is wrong and you should point it out to the person doingit and the people they examine- for they are doing harm
