My wbc was 13.7 rbc 4.40 neutrophils absolute 8.3 lymphocytes absolute 4.2 monocytes absolute 1.0 my gp wants to send me to an oncologist does this seem to be the right path right now.? this all happened when i went for treatment for a uti?

There are two potential reasons for a high WBC count. The most likely one is an infection. A less common cause can be due to a Cancer of the blood cells. But you have no other changes in your blood cells. So you should either see an infectious disease specialist or a urologist. Of course you could request your GP could check your urine for infection and give you a short course of antibiotics.

A competent doc will not refer you to an Oncologist without a valid reason based on his/her evaluation as a whole - not just the labs- so pl ask her /him as they no you best
