The source of the bleeding and a bleeding disorder should be considered. Was there a specific diagnosis? Infections may cause inflammation and hemoptysis. Watch for signs of fever and difficulty breathing. Screening for COVID and influenza is recommended. Your toddler should be able to visit safely if there is no infection. Masks may be worn to reduce transmission during visits.

Hemoptysis per se is not contagious, however the cause of hemoptysis can be contagious, e.g. Tuberculosis. Try to find out why is she coughing up blood.
