A member asked:

I have not had a thyroid for 12 years and levels have been in check for years at same dosage. got covid and has knocked levels out of whack. my tsh was showing .09. would that level be causing severe anxiety?

It looks like knowing the level is also causing you anxiety. It is unfortunate that the virus could affect all organs and cause irritation and thyroiditis sometimes could cause increased thyroid hormones. You did not give enough background information about your medical condition so it is best to review your situation with your doctor for proper management.

Any infection, including Covid, can cause your thyroid numbers to temporarily be abnormal. So, once you are fully recovered from Covid for about 6 weeks, you should have your thyroid labs repeated. It may be that your current thyroid medication dosage is still correct once you are fully recovered from the Covid infection.Follow up with your doctor and monitor your thyroid labs. Good luck!
