My three year old started antibiotics sunday night for strep. he still has a fever that comes and goes and is in quite a bit of pain. his throat doesnt look any better. at what point do i seek help for a different antibiotic? thanks?

If the fever continues beyond 3 days or if there are problems breathing, please follow up right away. Penicillins are the first line of treatment. Agree with Dr Dosanjh but there also may be a viral illness at the same time as the strep and that may be why he's not improving on an antibiotic...so he may not need a change of an antibiotic, but a longer time. So please contact his doctor if not improving. I'm also not sure from your question when the antibiotic was started.
