Lab tests can only be interpreted in the context of the medical history & exam. Please talk with the doctor that ordered your tests.

All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Talk to the doctor who ordered the tests. Having said that, total T4 is not a particularly useful test as the levels are affected by the amount of thyroxine binding globulin and levels of this protein are higher in women. Wish you good health!
